Resin and Jewellery Care Instructions

Scrapes

Try to avoid scratching or scuffing the resin surface by removing it when carrying out heavy duty works. You should also avoid sleeping in your resin jewellery.

Water damage

Resin is NOT waterproof, only water resistant. It should not be submerged into water. Please remember to remove your jewellery before showers, swimming, washing up etc.

Sunlight

Your resin jewellery piece must be stored out of direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can cause the resin to discolour and soften.

Smoking

You should be aware that regular contact with direct smoke can cause resin to yellow.

Chemicals

Avoid exposure of your jewellery to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. This includes perfume, hair spray, cleaning solutions, nail polish remover, antibacterial hand sanitiser etc. Solvents will react with the epoxy and can cause it to become scaly, yellow, chip or even break down completely.

Silver Jewellery Care

Silver will tarnish faster under certain conditions. Humidity, air quality and even body chemistry will affect how quickly it tarnishes.

Included with your order is a silver polishing cloth for you to use on the silver part of your memorial jewellery, be careful not to use it on the resin part of your piece. Gently rub it over the silver to buff and bring the shine back to your piece.

If ever you have your silver professionally polished, you should make them aware it contains resin that should be covered.

Please do not use the polishing cloth on the resin stone containing your precious encapsulation as this will cause the resin to become cloudy. If this does happen then your jewellery will need to be re-coated to restore its original shine.

Occasional Wear

Jewellery labelled with ‘Occasional wear’ is not recommended for every day wear due to its delicate nature. These rings are made using pave set cubic zirconia stones and can become loose or even fall out if knocked. Lovetotreasuregifts does not accept responsibility should you damage your ring due to excessive wear and not following the jewellery care instructions listed on this page.
